Setting up a cleaning business website is a great way to obtain new customers and to inform them about your services. It gives your business credibility and shows professionalism in the eye of the potential customer. These days, you can get an inexpensive, do-it-yourself website to start and then as you grow and become more profitable you can upgrade your website.
I would suggest before deciding on your cleaning business name that you make sure there is a domain name available that matches the name of your business. For example, say your business name is Yellow Maids, you would want to register the domain name www.yellowmaids.com.
Here are 5 steps to Create Your Website
- Pick your website/domain name and register it with a domain name provider. I register my domains with 1&1. You can also register your domain name with the website hosting provider you plan to go with. Although, if you decide to change hosting providers, it is easier to have your domain registered with a separate company than your hosting provider, so all you have to do is point the domain to the new hosting company.
- Choose a website hosting provider to host your website on. I personally use BlueHost. I use Bluehost because they have 1 click WordPress installation which I talk about below.
- Decide if you will have someone put together your website or if you will do it yourself. If you plan on putting together your own website, which I recommend, I would use WordPress. WordPress is a website platform that runs your website design. The reason I use WordPress is because of it’s do-it-yourself user friendly features, it’s SEO friendly, and you can add your website design by using free or premium website themes.
If you have someone else create your website, plan on having someone design and develop your website, which is two different things. The cost to have someone else create your website can be costly, especially if you are just starting out.
- Decide on how you will design your website. As I mentioned above, I use WordPress themes from StudioPress to design my websites. The reason I recommend themes are because they are inexpensive and work great with WordPress. They also allow you to manage your website without having to pay someone else to manage it for you.
- Finally, start adding information about your services onto your website. You can research cleaning businesses in your area on Google to get an idea of what information you should put. Here is an example from my cleaning business website, All Clean Home.
Hi there,
I like the look of the cleaning website – what studiopress theme was used? thanks.
Hey Paul, It’s the generate theme. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers Josh – appreciated. Looks nothing like the demo theme, I think you should do some designing for the studiopress people…
I did a little bit of customization, but not much.
